Today I was not expecting to ride because I took my mother to vote and said to myself that it was too late to go for a ride in the morning … I settled with my daughter Filipa that we are going to ride after lunch.

Well after left my mother safe in her house I returned home, seat in front of the computer and the first thing I saw was Parlatório on a post of César Vieira. Immediately I took the decision … I’m going there for a breakfast, meet face to face João Luís and after I’ll go to FERESPE to meet Filipa.

João Luís is a World rider that I follow closely. He does things that I would like to do but, honestly, I have no courage.

When I arrived to the bar immediately I saw that it would not be today that I have sometime to exchange some ideas about trips. Luckily for him Parlatório was really crowded. Even so we had some minutes to talk.

Going to Parlatório would not be the same if I didn’t take the EN15. Rio Tinto, Alto da Serra, Valongo, Vandoma, Baltar e Alqueidão, to name some, were localities that i had to pass thru to reach Paredes and, obviously, Parlatório.

Breakfast taken, small chat with João done and it was time to go to FERESPE to meet Filipa for our ride.

Also decided to take only national roads and I went thru EN106, EN207, EM558, EN105, EN104, EN14…and finally reached FERESPE.

These two bikes are really beautiful …

After taken the usual photos it was time to go towards to Salto and Minas da Borralha.

To gain some time we took the highway till Arco de Baúlhe. From here we took EN205, EM520 and entered on one of the most beautiful Portuguese Roads EN311. This road connects Fafe and Serapicos.

I’ll do one day, with Filipa and some friends, the connection between Cabeceiras de Basto and Salto thru beautiful secondary roads.

It will be thru CM1702, CM1700, CM1301…and we’ll pass Igreja Rio Douro, Fornelo, Juguelhe, Moscoso, Beçós e Carvalho.

But today ride was made, as I said, thru EN311 and when we arrived Salto we stop at “Terras de Barroso” restaurant. I strongly recommend. Owners are really enjoyable persons, and the food is always good. Of course, that today with Filipa we were having only “tea” because they were 16h00m.

I’m proud to say that Filipa is riding really well and only occasionally I look at the mirror. However, for her, it was quite cold and when we stop noticed that the gloves were not properly wear and “wind” enter thru the arms.

Next spot was Minas da Borralha and we took beautiful secondary roads.

The former Borralha Mines had 36 concessions, in a total of about 1800 hectares of territory.

Most of the concessions were for tungsten and tin but as well for wolfram, copper, and silver.

These mines employed thousands of people, transformed and energized the region, giving it national and international visibility.

Today it has a museum that preserves the memory of the place.

Linharelhos, Lamalonga and Campos, thru EM623, were the villages that we passed before getting EN103… towards Braga.

Filipa I really enjoyed your company and the ride…hope you too.
