Fear, apprehension, disbelief, stupefaction, etc… are feelings that are joining me during these last few days.
This ball, called Earth, has already lived through many wars, many of them absolutely devastating and most of the times for ridiculous reasons. But a feature common to all of them was that there was not a shadow of a nuclear weapon that, in the hands of a madman, could be used.
What we are witnessing is, for now, peacefully and calmly sitting on our sofas, a war where a despot who presides the largest country in the world attacked with everything that they have a neighboring country with a democratically elected government and with a millenary history.
Maybe that's why yesterday I remembered to take a small cultural tour, passing through two places that are part of the history of this “piece of land” planted next to Atlantic Ocean – Portugal.
Once more the departure for this ride was FERESPE and I drove to the first destination – Citânia de Briteiros thru EN14. This road took me to Braga and, further on, on Avenida de São Bento at the penultimate roundabout before reaching the EN103, I turned right through Alto da Vela until reaching the EN309.
This EN309 is highly recommended for a motorcycle ride, especially on those days when we really want to make a ride and lean our bikes. In terms of landscape, we go from pleasant to less pleasant, however, the balance is positive.
In the meantime I arrived at Citânia de Briteiros having to visit it with motorcycle clothes, backpack, helmet, camera … having to remove everything from the motorcycle because the R7 is a fantastic motorcycle but I don't have anything that allows me to store even a screw! Not a good idea but I’ve done it.
I share a link where it is explained Citânia de Briteiros.

Below I share some photos I took during my visit
I strongly recommend the visit to this proto historic vestiges well preserved … but always with proper clothes.
Ended the visit I hit the road again and continued thru EN309 till, almost, Louredo where I start to ride on road EN207-4 till this one reach EN207. São Torcato, and its imponent church, Garfe, Arosa and Porto de Ave were places that I pass thru.
Next destination was the small Castelo de Póvoa de Lanhoso.
This castle is connected to the birth of nation – Portugal, the oldest country of the world considering that had never changed its borders.
This castle evokes the memory of D. Teresa, mother of D. Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugal, highlighting the episode of D. Urraca, her half-sister. Unable to take the medieval area, both sides ended the dispute by signing the Treaty of Lanhoso, in 1121.
In 1128, defeated in the battle of S. Mamede, in Guimarães, D. Teresa returns to the Castle of Lanhoso, forced by her son, D. Afonso Henriques, on the way to exile to Galicia.

I had planned to visit two more places, but frankly, I wasn't at my disposal, given the situation in Europe and the world, with particular emphasis on what is happening in Ukraine, where a dictator decided to invade this country based on premises absolutely unreal.
